The refuge's Health Resource Team
The Health Resource Team was implemented in the fall of 2010.
In the short time they have been around they have helped a young mom discover and treat high blood pressure, get a woman with a life threatening tooth infection treated, provide support to a man facing a possible cancer diagnosis and more. In addition they have helped people obtain birth certificates and identification.
Vision
Assist the homeless of Lapeer to access services that will meet their physical, social, financial,emotional and spiritual needs
Mission
1. Provide services and assistance by offering one on one guidance to help the individual make positive life
changes that will help him/her be contributing members of society.
2. Support individuals in their efforts to rebuild lives through education, on site job training and placement.
This team of volunteers come from various health care backgrounds. The Health Resource Team help the homeless person/s to navigate the various resources available in Lapeer County to meet their individual needs. The team accomplishes this by offering free health assessments and by meeting with the guest regularly to further identify needs.
